What route does the Ganga Expressway take?

The road runs west to east for 594 km. It starts at Bijauli village near Kharkhauda on NH-334, Meerut district and ends at Judapur Dandu village near Soraon on NH-19, Prayagraj district. Along the way it passes through these districts:

  1. Meerut
  2. Hapur
  3. Bulandshahr
  4. Amroha
  5. Sambhal
  6. Budaun
  7. Shahjahanpur
  8. Hardoi
  9. Unnao
  10. Raebareli
  11. Pratapgarh
  12. Prayagraj

It crosses the Ganga between Siyana (Bulandshahr district) – Rukhalu (Amroha district), on a bridge of about 960 m. A second major bridge, about 720 m long, crosses the Ramganga. The route is reported to touch 519 villages Sources differ519 villages — per Wikipedia — Ganga Expressway518 villages — per Organiser — Ganga Expressway report (Organiser).

Who built it, and what did it cost?

UPEIDA developed the expressway on a DBFOT (Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer) basis, split into 12 packages. The builders were IRB Infrastructure (Packages 1–3, Meerut side); Adani Enterprises (Packages 4–12).

The UP cabinet approved a construction budget of ₹36,230 crore in 2021. Including about ₹9,500 crore for land, the total is reported as ₹37,350 crore.

The carriageway is 6 lanes, and bridges and structures are built wide enough for eight. In Shahjahanpur district, a 3.5 km stretch doubles as an emergency airstrip for the Indian Air Force.

How much is the toll?

Tolling is Closed, distance-based tolling via FASTag, charged at exit. Cars pay ₹2.55/km, so the full Meerut–Prayagraj trip comes to about ₹1,515 Sources differ₹1,515 — per News reports on Ganga Expressway tolling, May 2026 onward₹1,800 — per News reports on Ganga Expressway tolling, May 2026 onward (Reported as including structure surcharges.). NHAI’s annual FASTag pass does not work here because this is a state expressway. Full rates by vehicle are on the toll page.

Where can you get on and off?

Only at interchanges. The total is reported as 28, and we list the ones identified so far on the interchanges page, with the connecting road and type for each. We do not publish an interchange’s district or exact location until it is verified.

What new roads will connect to it?

Several link roads are approved or planned: a link from Noida International Airport at Jewar, a Farrukhabad link from the Agra–Lucknow Expressway, and two Phase 2 spurs, Meerut–Haridwar and Prayagraj–Ballia. Their status, length and cost are on the link expressways page. Land near an approved alignment can be frozen for sale, as happened along the Jewar link.

What does the expressway mean for land?

We do not predict prices. What the expressway changes is access, and access is specific:

  • Interchanges matter, not the carriageway. The expressway is access-controlled. A field beside it is no closer to the road than the nearest interchange by local road.
  • Industrial land is being planned. The state is developing an industrial corridor with a node in every district; see the industrial corridor.
  • Acquisition is a real risk. UPEIDA can notify villages for acquisition for link roads, interchanges and industrial nodes. Read notified villages and acquisition risk before you buy.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Ganga Expressway open?

Yes. Phase 1, from Meerut to Prayagraj, was inaugurated on 29 April 2026 at Hardoi. Tolling started after the free period ended on 14 May 2026. The Phase 2 spurs to Haridwar and Ballia are not built yet.

What is the speed limit on the Ganga Expressway?

The maximum speed is reported as 120 km/h. Lower limits apply to heavier vehicles and near toll plazas and work zones; follow the signs on the road, which override anything published here.

How long does Meerut to Prayagraj take on the expressway?

Reported journey times are 6–8 hours by car, compared with roughly 10 to 13 hours on older roads. Actual time depends on where you join and leave, stops, and traffic near the interchanges.

Who built the Ganga Expressway?

Is gangaexpressway.com an official UPEIDA website?

No. This is an independent information site. It is not affiliated with UPEIDA, NHAI, the Government of Uttar Pradesh or any developer. Check official notices on the UPEIDA website before relying on any figure.

Does the expressway make land near it a good buy?

We do not forecast prices. Land close to an interchange gets better road access, but land beside the carriageway does not get a gate onto it, and villages can be notified for acquisition. Check access, title and notification status before paying anything.
