Land unit converter: bigha, biswa, acre, hectare

Convert land areas used in Uttar Pradesh. A bigha is not the same size everywhere, so for bigha, biswa and biswansi you enter the local bigha size.

Turn on JavaScript to convert. Fixed conversions: 1 acre = 4,840 sq yd = 43,560 sq ft; 1 hectare = 10,000 sq m.

How this works

  • Acres, hectares, square feet, square yards and square metres convert exactly.
  • Bigha size varies by district and even by tehsil. We have not yet verified the bigha size for any district on the corridor, so the tool asks you to enter it. The lekhpal or tehsil can tell you the size used in your village's records.
  • A biswa is taken as one-twentieth of a bigha and a biswansi as one-twentieth of a biswa:20 biswa per bigha,20 biswansi per biswa. This is the usual UP convention; confirm it locally.
