The Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, a major infrastructure project aimed at reducing travel time between the two cities, is nearing completion and is expected to be fully operational by March.
No Early Inauguration for Delhi Stretch
While there were earlier plans to inaugurate the first 32-kilometer stretch of the expressway before the Delhi assembly polls, the road transport ministry has informed the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) that the entire 210-kilometer expressway will be inaugurated at once.
Focus on Seamless Travel
The decision to open the entire expressway simultaneously is driven by the desire to provide commuters with a seamless travel experience without detours or diversions. This will allow travelers to fully benefit from the reduced travel time and improved connectivity offered by the expressway.
Reduced Travel Time
Once completed, the expressway is expected to significantly reduce travel time between Delhi and Dehradun to just 2.5 hours. The journey from Delhi to Haridwar will also be shortened from five hours to two hours.
Project Progress
The road transport ministry has reported that the expressway is currently 90% complete and is on track to be fully finished by the end of February. The inauguration of the entire route is expected to take place in March.
The Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is a significant infrastructure development that will enhance connectivity and promote economic growth in the region. Its completion is eagerly awaited by commuters and businesses alike.
