Key Announcement and Objective
The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) is preparing to launch its first software technology park in Sector 28, covering a 100-acre area. This project aims to attract IT/ITeS companies, filling a crucial gap in the region’s industrial landscape.

Granting IT Industry Status
During the Semicon 2024 event on September 11, held in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath declared that the IT sector would be granted industry status. This decision allows IT companies to benefit from perks traditionally available only to the industrial sector, such as reduced plot rates and lower electricity tariffs. This move is expected to foster growth in the IT sector and fulfill long-standing demands from the Noida Entrepreneurs Association.

Project Specifications and Discussions
The proposed IT park will consist of 10 plots, each measuring 2.5 acres. YEIDA has initiated discussions with leading Indian IT firms like Infosys, TCS, and Wipro, encouraging them to set up operations at the park.

YEIDA CEO Arun Vir Singh stated that this development would address a significant gap in the region’s industrial offerings. According to Singh, “The layout plan for the Software Park was approved by the YEIDA board. Discussions are already in progress with major IT companies to establish their presence.” The initiative aims to strengthen the industrial ecosystem of the region.

Plot Allotment Process
The allotment process for the park’s plots was discussed during a review meeting in August, led by CM Adityanath. Larger plots, those exceeding 8,000 sqm, may be allotted through an interview-based process, while smaller plots are expected to be available through e-auctions. A final government order on this process is still awaited.

Additional YEIDA Developments

Reduction in Plot Sizes for Mixed-Use Land
In response to a drop in applications for larger plots, YEIDA has approved a reduction in plot sizes for mixed-use land development in Sectors 24 and 24A. The plot sizes have been decreased from 10 acres to 2.5 acres, accommodating the growing need for more flexible land use.

Navratri Land Scheme Launch
During the upcoming Navratri festival, YEIDA will launch a scheme offering 20 mixed-use land plots. These plots will be structured as follows:

  • 75% for industrial, business, or institutional activities
  • 12% for residential purposes
  • 8% for commercial use
  • 5% for essential facilities such as malls, housing, and food plazas.

This initiative is aimed at fostering an integrated development model, blending industrial, residential, and commercial activities.
