Commuters on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway experienced significant delays on Thursday evening due to slow-moving traffic. The congestion affected both directions of the expressway, causing frustration for those traveling during peak hours.
Char Murti Chowk Revamp to Ease Traffic Woes
In an effort to address the persistent traffic congestion in Greater Noida (West), the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) has announced plans to renovate the Char Murti Chowk. This busy intersection is a major bottleneck for traffic, and the renovation aims to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion.
Measures to Improve Traffic Flow
GNIDA has proposed several measures to improve traffic conditions between Char Murti Chowk and Ek Murti roundabout:
- Redesigning Char Murti Chowk: The size of the intersection will be reduced to improve vehicle movement.
- Road Expansion: The width of the road in key areas will be increased to accommodate more vehicles.
- Auto and E-rickshaw Management: Steps will be taken to regulate the parking and movement of auto-rickshaws and e-rickshaws to prevent obstructions and improve traffic flow.
U-turns and Service Roads
GNIDA also plans to construct U-turns near Gaur City 1 and 2 and extend service lanes. These improvements will facilitate smoother traffic movement and reduce congestion in the area.
Underpass Project
To further alleviate traffic congestion, GNIDA has unveiled plans to construct a ramp at Char Murti Chowk. Pre-construction work, including the relocation of utilities, is already underway.
These projects represent a comprehensive approach to addressing the growing traffic challenges in Greater Noida West. By improving infrastructure and implementing traffic management strategies, GNIDA aims to enhance the overall commuting experience for residents and visitors.
