The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has greenlit the construction of a new cloverleaf interchange that will link the Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE) to the Yamuna Expressway. This move is expected to significantly benefit commuters traveling between Delhi and Agra and make it easier to reach Jewar Airport.
Location and Status of the Project
- Location: The interchange will be located near Jaganpur-Afzalpur, around 10 km from the zero point of the Yamuna Expressway.
- Project Progress: The tender for this project was issued earlier, with Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra laying the foundation stone. However, construction was halted due to budget overruns.
- Resumption of Work: The financial issues have now been resolved, and construction is expected to resume soon.

- Shorter Travel Distance: The new interchange will directly connect the EPE and Yamuna Expressway, cutting 15-20 km from the journey for Agra-bound travelers.
- Convenience and Time Saving: Commuters from Ghaziabad, Meerut, Saharanpur, and other nearby regions will find it easier to access Jewar Airport. Residents of Agra, Mathura, and neighboring districts will benefit from direct travel to Ghaziabad and Meerut without needing to detour through Greater Noida.

Interchange Design and Structure
- The interchange will feature 8 loops across 6.6 km—four loops for ascent and four for descent—ensuring seamless flow for vehicles traveling in both directions.
Why the Project Was Halted
- Budget Overrun: The project, initially set to cost ₹122 crore, stalled when ₹22 crore was spent solely on soil work. After securing government approval, the project is back on track, with YEIDA CEO Arunvir Singh expressing optimism for its completion by next year.
