The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is set to become the first expressway in India to feature operational helipads. The government has finalized plans to construct 12 helipads along the route, all located in Rajasthan, to support medical emergencies and military operations.
Helipad Locations
- Sawai Madhopur: 6 helipads
- Dausa: 4 helipads
- Kota: 2 helipads
Purpose of Helipads
These helipads will serve two primary purposes:
- Medical Emergencies: Enable rapid airlifting of injured individuals in the event of accidents on the expressway.
- Military Operations: Support the armed forces in strategic operations and quick deployment of personnel.
Unique Features of the Expressway
- Wildlife Corridor: A dedicated wildlife crossing will allow animals to safely cross the expressway, minimizing disruptions to their habitat.
- Length and Reach: The 1,350-kilometer expressway passes through four states, with 374 kilometers running through Rajasthan.
Setting New Standards
The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is not only enhancing transportation infrastructure but also prioritizing safety, ecological conservation, and emergency preparedness. The inclusion of helipads sets a new standard for expressway design in India, demonstrating a commitment to providing comprehensive support for both commuters and emergency services.
